Week 10 - In-Design

Today we learned the program In Design. It seems to be a little easier to figure out than some of the other programs.
We learned how to publish our websites in class. We also had studio time in class. I worked on my website project.

Week 7: Flash (continued)

Flash animations can be done by keyframes, motion tweening and shape tweening.

Motion Tween: (2 ways of "tweening" motion and shape.)
1)Adjust zoom area to 50%
2) Import images to library
3) Click and drag first image to frame, fit in fram (free transform) and name layer.
4) Click on the frame # you wish to end on (frame 40), right click and select keyframe.
5) Go back to layer and lock and name the layer.
6) Click on insert new layer icon and name layer.
7) Drag next picture into the frame wherever you want to place it.
8) Size and free transform.
9) Click on end frame, right click and select keyframe.
10)Click object and drag to end point.
11) Go to first frame of moving object and insert motion tween (insert-> timeline -> motion
tween).
12) Click on motion guide icon to insert a motion guide.
13) Select pencil tool and draw path from start to finish (start in the middle of the object).
14) Align the object with the path on frame 1 and then on the last frame.
15) Go to frame one and select moving object layer, on the properties menu click on orient to
path and repeat in the last frame.
16) Control -> Test Movie.

Shape Tween
1) Break apart (Modify -> Break apart)
2) Select end point on timeline.
3) Select Tween -> Shape on the Properties table.

Logo Design

This was my finished logo design. I kept it in black and white, because I am not sure if I want to add color, and if so it will correspond with the colors on my website.

Week 6 - Absent

I was not able to attend this weeks class. I am a little bummed about that because I know I missed new material. I plan on attending some tutoring sessions on Fridays so I can catch up.

Week 4 - Illustrator

Illustrator Tutorial

In today's class we learned how to use Adobe Illustrator. I didn't really have any disengaged moments during this class. I followed the tutorial pretty easily, until the end when we applied borders to our pictures. I was still trying to change my title, so I didn't catch the beginning of how to put in the border. Other than that, it was kind of fun coloring in the logo.

Week 4 - Presentations

Photoshop Manipulation Project

I thought that all of the presentations were really good. I liked how people used the slides in Power Point to express their creativity. Some people even changed them to match their themes. The picture manipulations were all done well. There are some very creative students in this class!

Today's Class

My most engaged moments were when I could actually follow along during the tutorial. I have very limited experience with Photoshop and am very eager to learn more about it.

My most disengaged moment was definitely when there was arguing/disruptions. It is hard to follow a lesson and also commit it to memory when there is chaos around. I am in this school to learn. Although this is a required course, it is still very useful. I understand that there are students in the class who are more familiar with the programs, and I very much appreciate the more experienced students who are helping instead of disrupting the class. On that note, I hope that next week goes much smoother.

Week 3 - Photoshop Picture Manipulation

Preferences
The first thing to do when I open up photoshop is to check/set my preferences.

Resolution
Second, I need to verify modes (the standard mode for web images will be RGB). The three resolution modes are RGB for web images, CMYK is for printing and the gray scale for when color isn't necessary or you prefer black and white. For the web, the standard resolution for image size is 72 pixels per inch (ppi). Setup any image at 120 ppi and up for printing (300-400 ppi for color printing).

Raster vs. Vector Images
Raster images are made up of pixels. Raster images are resolution dependent (bitmap). The best application to compose raster images is Photoshop.

Vector images are made up of lines and points. The best application to compose vector images is Illustrator.

Week 2 - Photoshop

Today we were introduced to Photoshop. We learned how to import/place images, crop images, set up preferences, adjust images and optimize them for the web. I found the lesson fairly easy. The tutorial was easy for me to follow. I look forward to learning more about Photoshop. I think it will be a very interesting, as well as fun tool to use.

We were also introduced to Dreamweaver. I also found the tutorial easy to follow. The basic steps to create a home page were not too difficult, and I am excited to start designing my own web page.
